We’ve got an exciting update from the PRIMI Project!
We’re thrilled to share that our partners Luciano Fadiga and Alessandro D’Ausilio are among the authors of this ground-breaking paper in the Journal of Neurophysiology: “Sensorimotor Integration During Grasping Is Mediated by Distinct M1 Circuits”.
This research explores how the brain’s primary motor cortex (M1) engages different neural circuits during precision and power grips. Using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), the team demonstrated that distinct cortical pathways are activated depending on hand configuration and sensorimotor demands.
Why is this important?
Understanding these mechanisms is key to advancing neurorehabilitation and developing next-generation robotic systems that can interact naturally with humans – core goals of the PRIMI Project.
👏 Congratulations to the authors for this significant contribution to neuroscience and robotics innovation!
